We as shoppers rely a lot on the date on the packaging to tell us the freshness of food and the same is applicable for the eggs that we eat. Sell by dates are subjective and many factors play a roll that may proof them wrong. You can determine the freshness of eggs wit a very simple and practical test.
With foods like meats and fresh produce it is easy to determine the freshness and quality but with eggs, it is a little bit more difficult. Eggs stored in ideal conditions are often still edible long after the sell by / use by date on the packaging and the best method to test for freshness is the “floating test”.
